INcorporing inNOvation in Software Engineering Processes
This project addressed the role of innovation in the development of intensive systems software, the motivation to adopt this model as part of the development process and how it can be incorporated.
Description
The main goals of INNOSEP are:
The aim of the project will be the definition and the development of supporting methods and tools for a
framework that incorporates open innovation in the development of software intensive systems. The
project will face the role of open innovation in the development of software intensive systems, and the
motivation behind adopting it as part of the development process, and how it can be introduced within
this process. Open Innovation could be described as: the combination of internal and external ideas with
internal and external paths to market with the objective of advance the development of new
technologies. Agile methodologies are currently introducing innovation as a natural part of their
processes. From a technical point of view of software intensive systems development, innovation can be
introduced at the stage of requirements elicitation. Non only technical or end users are important; also
consumers are relevant. The project will model the framework using the standard ISO/IEC 24744:2007.
The second element that will be considered will be release planning. One of the issues to be studied is if
product variability has an influence on process specification. A supporting toolset will be developed;
already existing tools made available to the project will be considered.
